About Us:

Minnesota HomeCare Association (MHCA) is a statewide non-profit association whose mission is to support home care providers committed to high quality home care services. We represent over 170 diverse home care agencies that provide hands-on care to Minnesota residents. MHCA is recognized as the voice of Home Care for the state of Minnesota.

Conference Audience:

Each year, over 200 of our members come together from across the state for the MHCA Annual Meeting; a two-day conference packed with education sessions, a 2-day expo, and sponsored social events. The following reflects MHCA members-at-a-glance. Please note that many members offer multiple services.

 MHCA Members-at-a-Glance

 Medicare Certified  73%
 Comprehensive Licensed
 (includes HCN)
 22%
 Hospice  24%
 Palliative Care  27%
 PCA/PCPO  19%
Basic / Other Home Care   5%

Conference Purpose:

This conference is designed to equip all provider members (Medicare, Comprehensive/Basic, Home Care Nursing, PCA, CFSS, 245D, hospice and palliative care) for compliance and success, by offering education tracks that appeal to multiple audiences.

Conference Location:

Duluth Entertainment Convention Center
350 Harbor Drive, Duluth, MN 55802

Audience Level:

MHCA welcomes proposals that target new, mid-career, or seasoned professionals. However, many Annual Meeting participants have been in the field for several years and are specifically looking for advanced level training. Please keep this in mind when designing your program. On the online submission form, you will be asked to indicate which audience level your program is designed for. Extra consideration will be given to advanced level programs, which should be reflected in the learning objectives.

Presentation Length / Tracks:

Proposals are being accepted for 60-minute presentations (including audience Q&A) in each of the following educational tracks.

  • Leadership
  • Clinical
  • Regulatory/Licensure

We invite proposals that:

  • Reflect innovation and cutting-edge content
  • Stimulate and provoke discussion and audience engagement
  • Present evidence based or research supported information

Topics of Interest:

The MHCA Education Advisory Group is encouraging proposals that cover the following topics:

  • 5-Star Rating/Home Health Compare
  • Behavorial Health
  • Dementia Simulation
  • Handling Highly Complex Patients
  • Hire/Train for Talent
  • How to be an Effective Home Care Nurse (roles, clinical judgment)?
  • Infection Control
  • Marketing
  • Palliative Care
  • PCA Issues: EVV, Anti-Fraud, Policies and Procedures, etc
  • Productivity Models/Case Management
  • QAPI Training

Presenters are not permitted to sell or promote any specific product or service.

Due to the high cost of a dedicated internet connection and access to house sound, CFP submissions should not contain training elements that are dependent on the use of the Internet during the program. While WiFi at the venue is free, it is not always reliable.

Evaluation Process

The Education Advisory Group and Minnesota HomeCare Association staff will review all proposals. We will notify you regarding our decision by February 1, 2018. All correspondence will be sent to the lead speaker electronically.

Please be advised, due to the limited number of conference sessions and high volume of proposals we receive each year, many proposals will not be accepted. Those proposals not selected for the Annual Meeting will be kept on file for 1-year and reviewed periodically to see if they are a fit for another MHCA education program (workshop, conference, webinar, or region meeting).

Proposals must include:

  • Education Track Selection
  • Level of Content (Advanced, Intermediate, or Beginner)
  • Session Title
  • Speaker Names, Titles, Credentials, and Organizations (maximum of 3 speakers for each 60-minute session)
  • Speaker Biographies (3-4 sentences are sufficient)
  • Session Description (a summary of the program’s purpose; 150 words or less)
  • 3 Learning Objectives
  • Contact Person

Incomplete proposals will not be considered.

Registration Policy

MHCA recognizes you as a valued partner critical to the success of our meeting. No remuneration is being offered for this; however, let us know how we can return the value for your expertise you bring to our meeting.

Should your proposal be accepted for inclusion in the 2018 program, we hope that you will have the opportunity to attend the entire conference. Each presenter is eligible for a single 25% discount on the registration, regardless of how many presentations the individual is participating in.
