ABOUT MHCA

Minnesota HomeCare Association (MHCA) is a statewide, non-profit association whose mission is to promote the delivery of quality care in a variety of home living environments. We represent diverse home care organizations that provide hands-on care to Minnesota residents. MHCA provides a variety of services to our members including information, education and advocacy for adequate reimbursement and appropriate regulation for home care. MHCA is recognized as the “voice of home care” for the state of Minnesota. WILL I RECEIVE A CONFIRMATION NOTICE?

A confirmation notice will be emailed once the conference registration has been processed. The email will go to the email address provided on the registration form. If you have not received a confirmation notice, please call MHCA at 651-635-0607 to confirm receipt of your registration.

On May 8, a final confirmation email will be sent to the registered attendee, including the link to the handouts.

ARE HANDOUTS AVAILABLE AT THE CONFERENCE?

Speaker handouts will be available for print-out beginning May 8 and up to three weeks following the conference. As we receive handouts from the presenters, we will post them to the Annual Meeting Handouts webpage*. In some cases, the presenters will bring materials that will be used interactively.

*The link to the handouts is available to registrants only and will be included on the final confirmation email - to be emailed, May 8. If you do not receive the final confirmation notice, please call MHCA at 651-635-0607 to confirm receipt of your registration.

 

CAN I BRING MY LAPTOP TO THE SESSIONS?

Yes, you may! The DECC is a Wi-Fi hotspot, but keep in mind there are no public charging stations. All guest rooms are equipped with Wi-Fi and electrical for charging.

 

ARE THERE CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS?

We are dedicated to providing and promoting quality education. This program has been designed to meet the continuing education requirements for the Minnesota Board of Nursing for contact hours. Several programs also meet the continuing education requirements for the MN Board of Social Work (which has approved Minnesota HomeCare Association as a provider of continuing education). Application is being made to the Minnesota Board of Examiners for Nursing Home Administrators for clock hours and the Minnesota Board of Physical Therapy for MN-Category 1 continuing education hours (select sessions).

WHERE IS THE MINNESOTA HOME CARE PAC & SILENT ACTION?

The PAC is “on pause” for 2019 while MHCA focuses on strengthening our grassroots/citizen advocacy. We encourage you to further amplify our collective voice through grassroots advocacy and save up for your 2020 PAC donation!


WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Since the atmosphere is a relaxed convention setting, appropriate dress for the conference is business casual. Wear comfortable shoes and bring a jacket or sweater as it is difficult to maintain the perfect temperature in the meeting rooms. Social and leisure events are as dressed up or down as you like. Please make sure to bring warm clothes as weather in Duluth can be unpredictable!

IS THERE TIME FOR LEISURE?

Yes! MHCA will host a number of networking events throughout the conference. Click here to view the MHCA networking events. The Duluth Entertainment Convention Center (DECC) is located in Downtown Duluth next to the shores of Lake Superior. Our partner hotels offer a variety of amenities listed here and Duluth has a wide variety of offerings as well!

 

CAN I BRING FAMILY GUESTS?

You are welcome to bring family members with you to enjoy the Duluth area while you are attending the conference. Your name badge is proof of your conference registration and is required to attend any event or program.

 

FOOD

  • What if I have dietary restrictions?
    Should you have a dietary restriction, please contact MHCA Education Manager Melissa Stenberg by May 8. The DECC and Great Lakes Aquarium cater to all diets and can accommodate almost any dietary restriction.
  • Breakfast
    Please enjoy breakfast on your own before attending the conference.
  • Is there a public restaurant at the DECC?
    No, but you can choose from a variety of dining experiences sure to satisfy every taste in the Duluth area. The DECC is connected by skyway with downtown Duluth and Canal Park is a short walk away.
  • Beverages
    The DECC is a Pepsi campus and only Pepsi products will be offered. Pop will be sold at the Cappuccino Cart each day, in vending machines, or at the cash bar during the Grand Opening & Reception in the Expo Hall. Please see us at the Registration Desk for more information.

 

GREAT LAKES AQUARIUM

  • The website says that the Aquarium closes at 6 p.m. but the schedule says the event starts at 6:30 p.m., what's going on?
    Our event will be after hours at the Aquarium, we will have exclusive access to exhibits!
  • Does the Aquarium have free parking?
    No, parking is available for $5.
  • How close is the Aquarium to the DECC?
    Right across the street! Walk over to the DECC and catch a ride home on your hotel shuttle. Look for the shuttle schedule at the event!

 

WHERE IS THE CONFERENCE REGISTRATION DESK?

 You will find us in the lobby on the Ground Level of the City Side of the Convention Center (entrance B).

 

Registration Desk hours:

Wednesday, May 15 7:30 a.m. – 4:15 p.m.

Thursday, May 16 7:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

 

REGISTRATION POLICIES

A full conference registration may not be shared among multiple people; each attendee must individually register and pay a registration fee.

  • Need to Substitute?
    Substitutions will be taken until the conference begins at no additional charge. Please notify MHCA of any name changes by calling us at 651-635-0607.

  • What is the cancellation and refund policy?
    A written cancellation postmarked on or before April 28 is required for a refund less a $25 cancellation fee ($25 per cancellation). Cancellations made between April 29- May 5 are charged 50% of their registration fee to cover expenses incurred. Attendees who cancel after May 5, do not substitute another individual, or do not attend are liable for full fees and will not be entitled to a refund. Substitutions will be taken until the conference begins at no additional charge. Please contact MHCA with name changes.

 

EDUCATIONAL CHANGES

In the event of a change to a session, all reasonable efforts will be made to provide a qualified substitution.

 

PARKING

  • Is there free parking at my hotel?
    Yes, if you are a guest at Canal Park Lodge, The Inn on Lake Superior, or Holiday Inn and Suites you will have free parking at the hotel you are registered with.

  • Is there free parking at the DECC?
    No, there is a $5 parking fee per day if you park at the DECC. You may use it to go in and out throughout the day. The pass received from the parking attendant must be shown at each re-entry.

 

WALKING

  • How far of a walk is it from the Canal Park Lodge or the Inn on Lake Superior to the DECC?
    It is a 12-15 minute walk or less.

  • How far of a walk is it from the Holiday Inn & Suites to the DECC?
    It is a 10-12 minute walk through the skywalk.
