Diane Winkels, RN, PHN, was named 2018 Minnesota Home Care Professional of the Year. Diane, a supervisor at Rice County Public Health, was honored by the award, “I was so surprised. It is a great honor. I’ve been in home care for 37 years, and I’m so proud of all the people I’ve been able to keep at home. It’s been a great career, and I couldn’t do it without my team.”
Diane has dedicated most of her life to caring for others. Be it family, friends, co-workers, or community. She has worked in the home care department at Rice County Public Health for over 37 years, serving as the Home Care Supervisor for the last 19. She is frequently mentioned by name in random survey results as a “great nurse” and averages 40 visits per month, in addition to her managerial duties.
Her colleagues describe her as displaying a positive leadership style, a strong work ethic, and committed to the success of the agency. She is also said to be a great role model not only for the staff she supervises, but staff throughout the entire public health agency.
As if that weren’t enough, Diane has also worked tirelessly to build strong connections with medical providers in the community to ensure continuity of care and client choice in provider services. In her “spare” time she also coordinates staff involvement with the local “Meals on Wheels” delivery, and actively volunteers in her church and the community.
Diane, congratulations on being named Home Care Professional of the Year!
