A Brief History of the RCTC Training Program and MHCA -How did it come about? In 1999, RCTC received a Minnesota Job Skills Partnership grant and one goal of the grant was to create on-line classes for para-professionals. At this same time, MHCA was in the process of building on-line modules. Pat Jump was working with both RCTC and MHCA to provide curriculum and content; seeing the two organizations go down similar paths, she helped make the connection between RCTC and MHCA. RCTC viewed MHCA as the perfect collaborator and partner, as they had already started down the path to on-line learning. The partnership consisted of RCTC providing the technical expertise and helping with marketing and distribution. MHCA provided feedback testing of the curriculum and system and marketing. In 2004 the MHCA Board added access to the courses as a member benefit. The list of courses available and contact hours awarded has grown each year since then. The success with MHCA has been replicated with eleven other state home care and hospice associations.
