New Grad

This guide will provide your agency the tools it needs to assist your new grad nurse with an opportunity to apply their knowledge, further develop their skills, and gain confidence needed to succeed in the home care interdisciplinary team. The program aims to positively impact job satisfaction, engagement, and retention of novice nurses in home care.

Hosting students is an excellent opportunity to introduce them to home care careers and to your agency. MHCA has created a guide with helpful tips from providers and nursing programs to assist you as you consider developing a student program for your agency. There are three student programs to consider, each with varying time commitments. This guide has a section devoted to each of these programs, covering requirements for each party, staff roles and expectations, getting started guidance, and key lessons learned.
